Accessing your Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central data for reporting


Do you need insightful reports based on your Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central data? Creating insightful reports in Microsoft Power BI requires access to rich data. Using standard queries might not provide all relevant data. Using existing page objects as data source in Power BI could result in slow performance especially on tables such as entries and posted documents. This all-in-one-connector thus only relies on API queries that are optized for data retrieval of complex data.

This connector allows retrieving Dynamics 365 Business Central data in Power BI for various domains such as:
  • Sales
  • Purchasing
  • Inventory
  • Receivables
  • Cash Flow
  • Finance

The connector is targeted towards SMEs in all industries that need simple access to data that is relevant for reporting in Power BI. No configuration is required for the connector to work. After installation just connnect to Business Central in Power BI and select the new queries in folder Advanced Queries - navida/app1/v1.0

Usage example:
In the Power Query editor in Power BI connect to the queries nbiSalesInvoices, nbiServiceInvoices, nbiSalesCredits, nbiServiceCredits and combine (Union) these queries in order to build a detailed sales fact table. This table then can be used to report on sales, profit margin, COGS, discount etc. by customer, item, salesperson, document no. etc.
